Citas izlasīs tikai virsrakstu un pieņems, ka tagad tikai jāsprinto:)
As part of the program, participants sprinted on an exercise bike for eight seconds, and raised their heart rate to between 80 per cent and 90 per cent of its maximum rate, followed by 12 seconds of slow peddling.
''In three 20 minute sessions a week, they're only working hard for eight minutes,'' he said.
Un interesanti komentāri :)
Before everyone throws away their running shoes, there are some flags here that should raise caution:
1) A small sample (40)
2) All participants are male and young. Metabolism is naturally higher in this group.
3) No pairwise comparison (ie, using identical methodology) with a lower intensity group, only a non-exercising group.
It sounds like the participants were coming off a low-exercise base. It's possible that any exercise would have led to significant weight-loss. It doesn't make the research necessarily invalid only that one should be careful with conclusions.
